Our History
The Dance Shop was founded in 2004 by Micki Samson- Teller in a cozy corner of Embroidery…Just For You! inside the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona, PA. With just a small selection of dancewear and a big love for dance, the shop quickly outgrew its space and blossomed into a full-service destination for dancers of all kinds.
In 2024, Paige Nyanko proudly purchased The Dance Shop, continuing Micki’s legacy of exceptional service, expertise, and community support for dancers, twirlers, gymnasts, cheerleaders, and skaters across Pennsylvania and beyond.
Today, our 3,200 sq. ft. store at 3614 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, PA, is stocked with everything from shoes and tights to leotards, costumes, and accessories — for dancers of every age and level. We’re honored to be one of Capezio’s Top 200 Retailers nationwide and the region’s only authorized Capezio dealer.
